The students and the staff members of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora on Monday held a sit-in protest inside the premises of varsity against the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Bandipora district.
Reports said that students along with teaching as well as non-teaching staff assembled in the varsity premises and staged a peaceful protest seeking justice to the victim.
Besides condemnations by political and socio-religious parties, the widespread protest was held in parts of Kashmir demanding action those responsible for the act.
Meanwhile, students of the University of Kashmir also staged a protest inside the campus and demanded stern action against the accused.
