SRINAGAR: Shujat Rafiq, a senior executive of Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd passed away on Thursday late evening in SKIMS Soura.
Shujat, according to family sources complained of pain and uneasiness after which he was shifted to the hospital early Thursday morning where he breathed his last at around 8:30 PM.
Doctors treating him said he had kidney-related issues from the last several years which had got aggravated.
Survived by wife and two little children, his body was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Malkha, Srinagar on Friday, November 13. The congregational Fateh Khawani, the family said would be held on Sunday at 11 PM.
Born on June 23, 1968, in Makhdoom Kocha Pathar Masjid, the family later shifted to Umar Colony B, Lal Bazar.
A veteran trade unionist and treasurer Jammu & Kashmir Bank Officers Forum, Shujat was currently heading the Palpora branch of J&K Bank.
With over 30 years of service in the banking sector, he had served in many places. An expert hand in banking operations, he, his friends said was “well-respected both within the circles of management and customers.”
A customer and staff friendly officer, his death has been condoled by different sections of the society.
Condoling the demise, the management of the bank termed his death as a loss to the institution. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, “prayers were offered for the solace of the departed soul.”
