SRINAGAR: In the recent listing of the Standford University of world’s two per cent top scientists, there were three Kashmiris – two from SKIMS and one from Poonch. Now, there is a fourth one – Dr Ahsanulhaq Qurashi.

Dr Ahsanulhaq Qureshi

A resident of Karnah, Ahsan teaches in Khalifa University Dubai and is listed in his contributions in the energy sector. He teaches chemistry.

Dr Ahsanulhaq’s major research work is based on developing new materials for clean energy generation and storage, environment, and biomedical applications. Almost 98 of his published works in the related field have been considered by the enlisting authorities in the University. The list also showed Prof Khuroo and Dr Parvaiz Koul – both from SKIMS, and a Poonch academic in the list.

Ahsan completed his PhD in Nanotechnology in 2008 from Chonbuk National University, Jeonju, South Korea, Later, he completed his two-year post-doctoral fellowship from Toyama University, Toyama,

Japan. He joined as an Assistant professor in King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral (KFUPM) in 2010 at Centre of Excellence in nanotechnology and Department of Chemistry. He was promoted to

Associate professor in 2016. Presently he is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Khalifa University.

Ahsan has published about 100 peer-reviewed internationally reputed SCI journals, 7 book chapters and edited one book in Energy materials and presented over 55 papers in international conferences in the United Kingdom, USA, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and various countries. As many as five US patents in (USPTO) stand issued under his name as an inventor and co-inventor on emerging energy materials. Ahsan succeeded in obtaining more than 3.7 million $ grant from National Funding and industry. One of his PhD students won the national Almarai Award in Thesis under Innovative Work Category in 2019. He published over 50 articles in clean hydrogen sensing and production.

Dr Ahsan is Subject editor International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (Sabbatical), Regional editor of Current Nanoscience and editorial board member of Scientific Reports and Materials Research Bulletin.
