SRINAGAR: An elderly citizen from old Town Baramulla was reported drowned into Jhelum on Wednesday. He was around 65.

It was not immediately known if he jumped into the river or simply slipped into it. He was identified as Abdul Ahad Mattoo.

Reports said that when the family could not locate him at home, they started searching him. It was only then that they came to know about an incident. They came to know of the possible drowning only after they traced his Pheran on the stairs towards the ghat. The man was used to going to the river for abulations. It is presumed he slipped into the river.
