Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who continues to be under house arrest paid tributes to Basit Rasool Dar who was killed in an encounter at Bijbehara on Tuesday.

While paying tributes Mirwaiz, said that Basit, a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology, who had a great career ahead of him, was like most conscientious and educated youth of Kashmir who have been pushed to the wall by Indian oppression are no longer ready to accept that oppression and subjugation and instead are ready to fight the yoke of subjugation in order to free their motherland.

Mirwaiz has also paid tributes to Abu Bakar, another militant killed in Sopore.

Mirwaiz according to spokesman said “such sons of soil are our heroes and we salute there supreme sacrifice. Their sacrifice gives us the strength and determination to carry our struggle forward.”

On the directions of the Mirwaiz, spokesman said that a delegation of Hurriyat led by senior leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited the Matarhama Sangam and participated in the Nimaz-e-Jinazah of Basit and conveyed the message of sympathy and solidarity of the Mirwaiz and the unified resistance leadership with the bereaved family.
