Theater for Kashmir’s acclaimed play ‘Bea Chus Sheahid’ (I am the witness) will make its maiden presentation in Srinagar on January 6, Monday.

The theater play marks the beginning of theater activities in Kashmir for 2014. As per the Theater for Kashmir (TFK), it is going to organize different theater and literary activities throughout the year along with other cultural and literary organizations.

As per the officials of the TFK, this play will be shown all over the world live to global audience through internet—something that is happening for the first time in Kashmir’s theater History, they said.

The play written by acclaimed Kashmiri theater playwright and director Arshad Mushtaq is scheduled for its maiden theatrical presentation at SP College Auditorium today.

‘Bea Chus Sheahid’ comes from the same group that has been active over the years with series of plays that include ‘Su Ye’ (an adaptation of Samuel Backett’s Waiting for Godot), ‘Aalaw’ (adaptation of an Irish play ‘Riders to the Sea’), ‘Wattepaed’ (Footprints) which were staged at different national and international theater festivals over the years.

The lead role in the play will be played by veteran actor Yousuf Shahnaz and he will be supported by debutant actor Malik Qaiser Mushtaq. Other artists include Riyaz Mir, Ubaid Wani, Mian Mushtaq, Shahid Gulfam, Shahida Alvi, MU Hassan and others.
