SRINAGAR

President Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) and MLA Langate Er Rashid has termed the decision of releasing ten youths on the eve of Eidul Fitar, by state government as a mere eye wash and misleading.

Addressing party workers in Srinagar on Friday, Rasheed has said that if the government has any respect towards the religious sentiments of Muslims then it should release all the political prisoners unconditionally and must ensure that every Kashmiri including Syed Ali Geelani and other separatist leaders offer Eid Payers without any restrictions.

“Rather than trying to show Kashmiris its moderate and pro people face Jammu and Kashmir Police should have released all the youth allegedly involved in stone pelting and anti India demonstrations and arrested during last few months without excuses and conditions,” Rashid has said, adding no Kashmiri will get impressed by the so called good will gesture as hundreds of Kashmiris are languishing in Jails in and outside state, are living in miserable conditions.

As per a statement Rasheed has said, “Those who are trying to show a lollipop to Kashmiris by asking them to celebrate release of ten minor kids should explain that why Masrat Aalam, Dr Qasim Faktoo, Mustaqul Islam and other Vattern political leaders are not being released. If Chief Minister is really sincere in at least showing respect to religious sentiments of Kashmiris he must openly make a commitment that there will be no restrictions on Geelani and others on eve of Eid and he must prove his authority by releasing all the political prisoners without excuses, otherwise one has every reason to believe that nothing lies in the hands of Chief Minister and his colleagues and security agencies are running a state within the state and are accountable to central government and its agencies.”

Meanwhile Rasheed has further said, “If media reports are believed to be true that police army and paramilitary forces have launched a massive haunt to illuminate a militant reportedly injured in an attack by a bear in Tral, then only God the Almighty can change the mind set of those who just want to quench their thirst with human blood. At least in this particular case the wild animal has proved more merciful and less aggressive as compared to we, humans. Police and army could have scored a moral victory over the militants had they offered the said militant a treatment what so ever required and then their draconian law could have taken the course in the same way they could have desired.”
