SRINAGAR

With no respite from attacks by wild animals, a 30-year-old person was critically injured when he fell victim to attack by wild bear in South Kashmir.

A Police official while talking to GNS said that Mushtaq Ahmed Parray, son-in-law of Abdul Majeed Mir of Akoora, Mattan was attacked by a bear after he was creeping grass in his apple orchard at Akoora village in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

He said Mushtaq’s hue and cry grabbed the attention of locals who rescued him from black bear in grave condition and shifted him to district hospital Islamabad where his condition is said to be critical.

Soon after the incident, panic gripped among people over the incessant attacks by wild animals in the orchard fields.

“Bears are wandering in the apple orchards and people can’t move there for work. We request administration to take necessary steps at earliest to safeguard our lives,” Adil Ahmed Bhat, a local resident told GNS.
