A ferocious bear attacked an elderly woman and her daughter-in-law, killing one of them on spot while another is battling for life in the hospital.
Locals from Ladgov village of Kulgam district told CNS that Fatima Begum (75) and her daughter-in-law Shaheena Banoo (29) had gone to nearby orchard when a ferocious bear chased and attacked them.
The bear mauled the elderly woman killing her on spot while Shaheena Banoo was critically injured in the attack.
The locals chased away the bear and shifted the injured women to District Hospital Kulgam, where doctors declared Fatima Begum brought dead.
Locals accused Wild Life Department of negligence and said that despite informing about the movement of wild animals in the area, the Department doesn’t take cognizance.
