A prominent cleric from South Kashmir’s Islamabad and chairman Umat-e-Islami Chairman, Qazi Ahmad Yasir Thursday sits on a hunger strike against the beef ban.
The cleric has set up a camp inside an Eidgarh, where is joined by members of high court bar, traders and transporters associations.
“The purpose of the strike is to invite the global attention towards the situation arising out of the imposition of ban on beef,” a close-aide of the cleric said.
Pertinently, a division of JK High Court upheld the Dogra-era ban by directing the police to ensure ban on the sale of beef in the state.
