Terming Bemina Fidayeen attack as ‘first of its kind’, Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), VS Yadav said some militants have been able to infiltrate into valley around the time of hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.

“There are reports with us that some militants have crossed the LoC before and also after Afzal’s hanging. The hunt is on to nab all these militants”, Yadav told a local news agency, KNS.

He said Police has already got the breakthrough into the Wednesday’s Fidayeen attack in which five personnel of the force were killed. “One more suspect is reported to have been arrested today also”, he said.

While referring Bemina Fidayen attack, the IG said, “Till now there have been attacks on Camps but Bemina shoot out was first of its kind.”

Denying allegations regarding unprovoked firing, by CRPF, Yadav said, “Police has yesterday registered an FIR into the killing of Altaf Wani, against the CRPF and if anyone of our Personnel is found guilty, he would be dealt with sternly”, the IG said.

“Our men exercise maximum restraint on their part. If they had opened unprovoked fire, it would have resulted in killing of dozens of civilians, and secondly 350 of our men would not have got injured”, he added

“Some miscreants do not like peace and resort to stone pelting. As such we are dealing only with law and order problems, so our men carry their weapons accordingly otherwise our deployment possess sufficient firearms.”
