Mother of the two butchered children and a key link to investigation into the Wednesday’s shocking incident at Bemina cannot speak up immediately even as her condition has improved slightly, Head of Department ENT, SMHS hospital, here said Thursday.

“She is undergoing treatment. Her windpipe has suffered extensive damage in the attack and cannot speak up immediately,” Dr Rouf, the HOD ENT, told KNS.

He said the woman— Naseema is stable and that there was some slight improvement in her condition from yesterday. “We are continuously monitoring her,” he added.

A senior police officer told KNS that the investigation into the incident was going on and declined to divulge progress made into cracking the case.

Aaliya Iftikhar (5) and Muhammad Hashim (3) and their 40-year-old mother, wife of Molvi Muhammad Iftikhar Lone were found lying in pool of blood in their apartment next to Masjid Noor Iqbalabad Bemina in outskirts of Srinagar on early Wednesday morning.

The trio was shifted to SMHS Hospital where the kids were declared brought dead while their mother was admitted in critical condition.

Molvi Iftikhar, a resident of Gurez in Bandipora district, who was leading the prayers at the Bemina Masjid for the past over two years, has been arrested in connection with incident.
