Bhaderwah: Body of a girl who drowned on Friday recovered

A dead body of a girl was recovered from river Neeru in Pranoo area, under Bhaderwah Police jurisdiction today.

Police said that a local noticed the body floating near Pranoo area in the river and informed police. The police party reached there and shifted it to hospital.

It was discovered that this girl namely Sheetal Bharti daughter of Satish Kumar, resident of Trown Doda, drowned after slipping from a narrow foot bridge over Neeru river near Butla village of Bhaderwah while three other students were rescued after flash floods hit the area on Friday morning.

The body after performing legal formalities was handed over to the family this evening.

It is notable to mention here that on Friday the students were heading towards their college when they slipped from a wooden log while crossing Neeru river in which three girls were rescued by local people and one drowned.

After that accident, locals staged protest against the state government demanding construction of bridge over Neeru near Butla.
