Noted Dogri Singer Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dansalia passed away. He was 84. A recipient of Sangeet Natak Academy Puraskar, Haji was a popular singer who had a huge listenership on the other side of the LoC as well.
Dansalia is survived by his three son, four daughters and a widow.
“Dansalia was prominent Gojri and Dogri singer” said Dr Javaid Rahi of teh Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation said. “his father and guru , Chirag Din was key person who gave him a basic treasure of Gojri folk song and Dogri devotional songs.
NC’s provincial president Jammu Devender Singh Rana has Haji’s demise. “Haji Ghulam Mohammad was a connoisseur of devotional songs (Bhakan) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and a symbol of secular tradition of J&K state,” a statement issued by Rana said. “With his death an era of spiritual dogri music has come to an end.”
