Former Vigilance Commissioner Dr Ashok Bhan, who retired as Director General of Prisons in Jammu and Kashmir, journalist Ahmed Ali Fayyaz, who is currently Jammu and Kashmir bureau chief of an Indian national daily The Hindu and Balwant Thakur, eminent theatre personality and former Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages are among the 12-member State Audit Advisory Board constituted by Comptroller & Auditor General of India.

The board will have seven external and five internal members. Principal Accountant General of J&K Dr Subhash Pandey has been appointed as Chairman of the board.

Bharat Bhushan Pandita retired Indian Audit and Accounts Service officer and Dy CAG, former IAS officer Dr Deen Mohammad, who recently functioned as Member Secretary of J&K State Finance Commission, AK Raina retired Director of School Education in Jammi and Chartered Accountant Rajat Mengi have also been appointed as members of the board.

The board will monitor functioning of the auditing of different government departments and advise the CAG and Pr AG on the audit process.

Total number of departments of the state of Jammu and Kashmir which come under the ambit of audit are 44 comprising of 29 Grants.

The departments have been divided into four sectors like general sector, social sector, economic sector and revenue sector.

There are 6935 units (DDOs) in all the sectors including the autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings in Jammu and Kashmir.
