As predicted by the Met department, moderate rains and intermittent snowfall  lashed Kashmir since Thursday evening, showing decline in temperature.

According to the advisory from weather department, fresh western disturbance is approaching the state and is likely to affect J&K and adjoining areas  till February 23 afternoon (Friday/Saturday). Another western disturbance is likely to affect the state on February 27 and 28. Due to these weather systems, moderate rain/snowfall (over hills) will occur at widespread places of Jammu and Kashmir regions and at a few places over Ladakh region.

Meanwhile, moderate rains also lashed in the plains and higher altitudes of Jammu, this dipped the day temperature by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the region.

Due to fresh advisories from Met department, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir has issued an avalanche warning from February 21 to 24, 2013 in view of expected moderate to heavy snowfall in snow bound areas of valley which include Kupwara, Baramulla and Islamabad districts.
