On Thursday, February 11, JKLF held a rally at Trehgam Kupwara, the ancestral village of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat to commemorate his death anniversary.

The statement said that a program was also held in Gilgit-Baltistan which was presided over by JKLF supremo Aman Ullah Khan. “The struggle and sacrifices of Maqbool Butt are a golden chapter of our history. Maqbool was a true and faithful son of soil whose passion for freedom was and remains unparalleled,” Khan told the audience.

In his message from central jail Srinagar, Malik said, “personalities like Muhammad Maqbool Butt are glory for nations. People like these changes the course of history through their struggle and sacrifices and become immortal. Maqbool is alive as he lives in our hearts and minds and this is why today Kashmiris living across the globe remember him with love and affection.”

The statement said that a candle light march was also organized in Trehgam last night in which hundreds of people participated with passion and raised slogans in favour of Bhat.

In United Kingdom, JKLF member Prof Raja Zaffar Khan and others held a protest demonstration outside the Indian high commission in London.
