SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced key appointments for its legislators in the Assembly.
Sat Sharma, President of the JK BJP, made the nominations in consultation with BJP National President J P Nadda, National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh, and National General Secretary and JK Prabhari Tarun Chugh.
Surjit Singh Salathia, BJP Vice-President and MLA from Samba, and Pawan Gupta, MLA from Udhampur West, have been appointed Deputy Leaders of the Opposition.
Rajiv Jasrotia, BJP Spokesperson and MLA from Jasrota, has been appointed Chief Whip of the party in the Assembly.
Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, MLA from Suchetgarh, and Yudhvir Sethi, BJP Vice-President and MLA from Jammu East, have been named party whips.
Choudhary Vikram Randhawa, MLA from Bahu, has been appointed Secretary, while Arvind Gupta, BJP Secretary and MLA from Jammu West, will serve as Treasurer.
Balwant Mankotia, MLA from Chenani, and Shakti Raj Parihar, BJP Vice-President and MLA from Doda West, have been appointed party Spokespersons.
The appointments aim to strengthen the BJP’s legislative functioning and internal coordination in the Assembly. (JKNS)
