SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed support for the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to replace Hina Shafi Bhat with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary as the chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB).
BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur emphasised the importance of respecting the government’s prerogative. “This is a decision taken by the government, and we respect it. Everyone must honour and accept such decisions,” Thakur said.
He also highlighted the BJP’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance. “If there are any irregularities, it is the responsibility of the government and concerned agencies to look into them. Transparency and accountability have always been the BJP’s priority,” he added.
Hina Shafi Bhat, a senior BJP leader, had been serving as the chairperson of KVIB since her appointment in 2018. The government issued a late-night order on Monday announcing her replacement by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary. (KNO)
