National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday criticised the BJP for exploiting Hindu sentiments to galvanise support for petty political gains.

Addressing workers in Kishtwar this afternoon, he said, “The time has come for all Indians, irrespective of the caste, creed and religion to wake up and defeat the forces, which are using religion for political ends, forsaking the welfare of the people and the nation.”

Rana said the people must ponder as to what they had lost and gained ever since the BJP partnered PDP in the state government. The “party with a difference” had ended up being indifferent to the common man, he claimed.

The NC provincial president said the BJP was not doing any good to the state or the nation by polarising a diverse society, which had largely remained secular and inclusive despite communal onslaughts.
