Suhasini Sudan Maheshwari, a native of Jammu city, won the “Mrs Universe Humanity” pageant held at Durban in South Africa, recently.
An IT engineer-turned-social worker, Suhasini, expressed great desire to work for the uplift of children in conflict zones of the country, particularly the militancy-affected children of the Valley.
After completing her academics, she joined Larsen and Toubro as engineer in Madhya Pradesh, but not before she made up her mind to work for a social cause.
“Having proved my mettle in various fields of art, music, dance and painting, etc at the school and university level, I took up modelling with an aim to reach out to the masses,” Suhasini told a local newspaper, adding that immediately after winning the coveted title, she made up her mind to reach out to children with disabilities, and particularly those in conflict zones and others left helpless due to militancy in the Valley.
Suhasini is the wife of Sankalp Maheshwari, adviser to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Also, the winner of “Mrs Universe South East Asia”, Suhasini has won 10 more coveted crowns, including Mrs India Worldwide Runner Up 2016, Mrs India Worldwide Fashion Icon 2016, Mrs Madhya Pradesh Exotica 2016, Mrs Indore Best Attitude 2016 and Mrs Maheshwari Queen 2013, etc.
“It’s not just a beauty pageant, but a vision. My dream is to make my vision successful, and if I am able to secure the life of even a single child through it, I will be content,” Suhasini added.
