A 26-year-old “unmarried” woman on Tuesday gave birth to a baby at the district hospital in Doda. She alleged that she was raped by her cousin.
The incident came to fore last night when a pregnant woman came to the hospital along with an old lady for delivery but failed to give satisfactory answers on her case history, , Tribune India reported.
“She came to the Doda hospital along with an old lady. She failed to give satisfactory replies on her case history. Doubtful over the case, the gynaecologist concerned informed the police. However, we gave her proper treatment,” said a hospital employee, according to the report.
“Both the woman and her baby are healthy after a normal delivery last night. They are under observation in the hospital for 24 hours.” he added. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, Shabir Choudhary said, “The woman who gave birth to a baby in the hospital last night alleged that she was raped by her cousin Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Baroon, Udhyanpur, in Doda.”
“On her complaint, the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway,” said the SSP.
