SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Sat Sharma on Wednesday said the National Conference government had three years left to deliver on its promises or step down, as the BJP staged a protest against the Omar Abdullah-led administration in Srinagar.
Sharma, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, addressed BJP workers during a march from Lal Chowk to the Civil Secretariat, where protesters raised issues including unemployment, the power tariff hike and alleged corruption.
Claiming that public sentiment was turning against the government, Sharma said the administration should either work during the remaining three years of its term or leave office.
“You see how people have made up their minds, that the government should either work or leave the post,” he said.
Sharma also accused the NC government of failing to deliver on development and alleged that it was diverting public attention from its shortcomings.
He further criticised the government over what he described as its approach towards Pakistan, saying the “Indian people will never tolerate those who give Pakistan a clean sheet”.
The BJP leader said the large gathering at Lal Chowk reflected demands for accountability from the government.
The BJP demonstration coincided with a National Conference protest seeking restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees for Jammu and Kashmir.
