BJP Suspends Nine Anantnag Office Bearers Over ‘Unauthorised’ Tiranga Rally

   

SRINAGAR: The BJP’s Anantnag district unit has suspended nine office bearers and removed them from all organisational positions over their alleged involvement in an unauthorised Tiranga rally held in the district on August 5.

The action was announced in an office order issued by BJP Anantnag District President Rakesh Koul, who said the rally at Housing Colony Khanabal was organised without approval from either the district party unit or the District Administration.

The party also cited alleged “objectionable and derogatory remarks” against women during the event, describing the conduct as unacceptable and contrary to the BJP’s values, discipline and principles.

The decision followed deliberations with State General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, State General Secretary Anwar Khan, State spokesperson and Anantnag Prabhari Altaf Thakur, and members of the BJP District Core Committee, according to the order.

Those suspended include District General Secretary Nisar Ahmad Bhat of Wangam Shangus; District Secretary Khursheed Ahmad Sofi of Hassanpora Bijbehara; District Secretary and former District Vice President Aabida Rafiq of Achabal; Shangus Constituency President Irshad Ahmad Malik of Gopalpora Mattan; Mohd Maqbool Ganie of Achabal; Pahalgam Constituency President Waheed Ahmad Itoo of Hassanoor Aishmuqam; District Secretary Nisar Ahmad Hakeem of Dehwatoo Pahalgam; District Secretary Kisan Morcha Feroz Ahmad Hajam of Kherchi Larnoo; and District Secretary Mahila Morcha Sabrooza Akhter of Thajiwara.

Their primary membership of the party has also been suspended pending further inquiry, the order said.

The BJP district unit further clarified that Alveer Ahmad Dar of Batengoo Anantnag and Fancy Akhter of Hangulgund Kokernag are not associated with the district unit and hold no organisational post or responsibility.
