Rejecting the statement of BJP leader and deputy chief minister of J&K Dr Nirmal Singh wherein he said that “Pakistan is desperate to disturb Amarnath Yatra”, senior separatist leader Javaid Ahmad Mir Tuesday said BJP is sparking communal tension by issuing such statements.

Mir said such statement by BJP that Pakistan is desperate to disturb Amarnath Yatra is far from truth and has only be issued to create communal tension in the region.

“Such conspiracies will never ever be allowed to weaken the traditional brotherhood of Kashmir,” he said. “People of Kashmir and the pro-freedom leadership have always welcomed the Amarnath Yatra and will continue to do so even after the independence.”

Mir said under anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmir agenda, BJP is trying to disgrace the people of Kashmir in general and the neighbouring country Pakistan in particular.

“At a time when world bodies from UN to US are stressing negotiation between Indian and Pakistan during the proposed meeting of its Prime Ministers in Russia, the BJP is trying to create communal tension in Kashmir,” he said.

Mir also welcomed the report published by the US State Department wherein it is said that Indian authorities is using Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to avoid holding its security forces accountable for accusations of human rights abuses. “AFSPA is a license to the government forces to justify the killings of innocent people of Kashmir,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mir strongly condemned the arrest of youths in old city during the nocturnal and pre-dawn raids conducted by the police, triggering panic in locals.
