SRINAGAR: Newly appointed BJP Prabhari for Jammu and Kashmir, Satish Poonia, is scheduled to visit Jammu on October 14 and 15 for meetings with senior party leaders, legislators and organisational representatives to review the party’s functioning and discuss its political priorities in the Union Territory.
Poonia, a BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, is expected to reach Jammu on Wednesday morning and attend a series of meetings at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar.
The first day’s programme includes interactions with members of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP Working Committee and a separate meeting with party legislators. He is also scheduled to attend an evening meeting of the party’s Core Group to discuss organisational and political matters.
On October 15, Poonia is expected to meet representatives heading various party cells and morchas. The discussions are likely to focus on their functioning, coordination among organisational units and the BJP’s future priorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit comes after a recent organisational reshuffle in which Poonia was assigned responsibility for Jammu and Kashmir, replacing Tarun Chugh, who has been given charge of Gujarat.
The new Prabhari’s interactions with the party leadership and cadre are expected to focus on organisational strengthening, coordination and the BJP’s political strategy in the Union Territory.
Poonia also oversees BJP affairs in neighbouring Punjab, where Assembly elections are expected in February 2027.
Meanwhile, the participation of newly appointed Jammu and Kashmir BJP Sah-Prabhari Reena Kashyap in the Jammu programme had not been confirmed, with the final itinerary yet to be settled.
The two-day visit will mark Poonia’s first engagement with the party’s Jammu and Kashmir leadership since taking charge of the Union Territory’s affairs.
