Accusing the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of fooling people by turning its saffron colour into green in Jammu and Kashmir, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and NC vice president Omar Abdullah targeted BJP for having “double standards”.

Omar accused the BJP of changing its colours when it reaches Kashmir for election campaigning. “But time has changed they (BJP) can’t fool the voters anymore and eventually they are only making fool of themselves, he said.

“The saffron of the BJP turns green when it reaches Kashmir. I’m not sure whether the party truly believes it can fool voters when it makes a fool of itself like this. Why can’t they show their true colours while campaigning in the valley?’’ Omar Abdullah wrote on his twitter handle.

Earlier, a green colour banner which used to be saffron appeared in state’s various newspapers appealing people to vote for the BJP’s candidate for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat Khalid Jehangir. The advertisements have also a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the top.

However, the advertisement has drawn a huge criticism on social media; netizens have accused the party of having “dual character” and “double standards.” Pertinently, the green colour is preferred by most of the Kashmiris because of its association with Islam.
