Srinagar

Indian army chief Bipin Rawat has said that the situation in Kashmir will return to normalcy soon.

The statement has come days after the army chief had courted controversy after he backed an army major for his act of tying the man to a jeep and paraded him through many villages of Budgam district. He termed the major’s act as “innovative” and had said that army is fighting a “dirty war” in Kashmir.

General Rawat blamed Pakistan for creating unrest in Kashmir by making use of social media.

The Army Chief added social media is an important tool being used by Pakistan to create unrest in Kashmir.

The report quotes him having said , “Pakistan is spreading disinformation among the youth of Kashmir with doctored videos and messages. This is further supported by some of the people in the valley who spread it and glamorize the young boys who have joined terrorist organisations.”
