Army and other paramilitary forces had to resort to aerial firing to disperse the civilian protesters who showed stiff resistance while the former was trying to lay a siege in Walarhama area of Pahalgam is southern part of Kashmir.

Reports reaching here said that several columns of forces reached the village early morning to launch a cordon and search operation. As soon as the news about the COAS spread, people came out and started pelting stones on the forces personnel.

The forces personnel sensing trouble fired in the air to disperse the crowd and flee from the spot, reports said.

A police official told Kashmir life that they haven’t got any information yet about the incident but situation is under control in the area. “Once we confirm we will let you know,” he added.
