In a tragic fire incident, the office of the Block Development Officer Kishtwar was on Sunday late evening gutted under mysterious circumstances around 8.45 PM.
As per the details available with Kashmir Life, some people witnessed the flames coming out from the roof top of the building and brought the matter into the notice of police and fire tender services which immediately rushed to the spot and started dousing the flames.
In the mean time, officials of Rural Development Department including BDO Kishtwar, Sunil Kumar Butyal, also reached the spot who managed in saving official record and the building from being getting completely destroyed.
Risking their lives, the employees of the department without entered into the building and managed to save the computers and few wardrobes that carried important records. However, it was not exactly known whether the all of the records was saved or not.
SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Rishu along with SHO Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani also reached the spot to access the situation.
The cause of the fire is though yet to be ascertained, but short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire incident.
When BDO Kishtwar who was busy in saving the record was questioned about the cause of the fire, he said that it is premature to say anything about the exact cause of the fire.
He also said that the loss to the record and other damages could only be ascertained coming morning after thorough scrutiny.
It is pertinent to mention that in a similar fire incident, the record at BDO Office Dachhan was gutted few months back.
