Jama’at-e-Islami Pakistan on Sunday demanded that Kashmiris be given their rights as per United Nations resolutions.

Addressing the Kashmir Session at 43rd annual meeting of JI Workers Council of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan in Islamabad, JI Chief, Siraj-ul-Haq said, “Kashmir is not just a problem of the people of the valley but an issue related to the entire Pakistani nation and the Muslim world.”

“India is committing human right violations in Occupied Kashmir and its cruel face has been exposed before the international community,” a news report published by Radio Pakistan Siraj-ul-Haq as having said.

Later, Jama’at-e-Islami Pakistan Secretary General, Liyaqat Baloch led a protest demonstration in the capital city against the “brutalities in Kashmir”. Jama’at members from Pakistan administered Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan raised slogans in favour of “Pakistan and freedom of Kashmir”.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan is running a robust campaign to get the bloodshed of innocent people in Kashmir stopped at the earliest.

In an interview with PTV on Sunday, he said, “Pakistan’s efforts are now paying and a pressure is being built on India to end its brutalities against the Kashmiris.”

The spokesperson said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights again expressed concern over the human rights violations in Kashmir, and urged India to allow a fact finding mission in the restive territory.

He added that the Kashmiri Diaspora and the civil society in Europe, North America, and other parts of the world are holding protest rallies “against Indian state terrorism in Occupied Kashmir”.

“India is reacting desperately to these voices of concern, and resorting to either heating up Line of Control or Working Boundary or making false claims of carrying out surgical strike in Pakistan,” he asserted.
