A male body that was retrieved from river Jehlum Srinagar on Thursday was identified and police have started investigation to ascertain the cause of the death.
A body was retrieved from river Jehlum near Basant Bagh, and later identified as 30 years old Liyaqat Ahmad Katoch son of Abdul Rehman resident of Pogal, Banihal.
Police have started investigation under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of the death. After conducting all medico-legal formalities, police handed over the body of deceased to his relatives for last rites.
Meanwhile, two years old Haris Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulzar Ahmad resident of Kund was drowned in Nallah Hatkurigam at Kurigam, in Kulgam. The body of the boy was later retrieved from the Nallah and handed over to his relatives for last rites.
