SRINAGAR: The body of a 20-year-old youth from Bemina, Srinagar, was recovered from the River Jhelum near Shalteng Bridge on Monday, officials said.
According to officials, a police team noticed the body floating in the river and immediately retrieved it, after which it was shifted to a hospital for necessary formalities.
The deceased was later identified as Javaid Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina.
Authorities said he had allegedly jumped into the river from Budshah Bridge on May 20, triggering a large-scale search operation involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other rescue agencies.
