Body of a 9-year-old boy was fished out from the Nallah Pohru on Saturday in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district a day after he had drowned in the stream.

The body of Mohammad Abbas Khan, a minor bakerwal boy of Rajouri, was fished out from the Pohru Nallah today afternoon by the MARCOS, police and army’s 22 RR, an official said.

The help of Marine Commandos was sought to undertake diving in the stream. A team of MARCOS under the HQ 5 Sector was tasked to carry out the diving operation, he said.

The team successfully flushed out the body after the extensive diving operation. The recovery of the body brought relief to the bereaved family and the villagers, who could carry out the last rites of the youth, the official said.

Abbas had drowned in the nallah yesterday. (GNS)
