SRINAGAR: An unidentified, partially decomposed male body was recovered from the Jhelum River near the Shahtulpora bund area in Sumbal on Monday, officials said.
An official said that local boatmen spotted the body, estimated to be that of a man around 60 years old, floating near the bund and subsequently fished it out.
Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and took custody of the body. The identification of the deceased and the cause of death are being investigated, the official added.
Further investigations into the incident are underway. (JKNS)
