Body recovered from Khrew encounter site: Police


Body of an unidentified man, believed to be a militant, was recovered on Thursday from the encounter site in Pulwama where one militant was killed last month, Police said.

A police spokesman the body was recovered by locals in the Khrew area where an encounter had taken place between militants and security forces on January 22.

“On January 22  an encounter took place at Zaintrag Awantipur in which one militant was killed. Other militant escaped from the site. It was suspected that he got injured during the exchange of fire. His weapon was also recovered on the same day,” he said.

“Today a dead body was recovered from the nearby area and it is apparently that of militant who got injured. Wallet found with driving license of Rayees Dar, a JeM militant of Tral who was supposed to there in the trap during encounter in which Pak JeM militant Saifullah was killed,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
