SRINAGAR: Emergency surgeries resumed at Bone and Joint Hospital in Srinagar more than a week after a devastating fire damaged the hospital.

The Valley’s sole orthopaedic hospital was damaged in fire rendering the facility shut for surgeries and admitting new patients. The government had set up orthopaedic facilities for patients in several Kashmir hospitals while only Out Patient Department (OPD) was running in the hospital, news agency KNO reported.

On Monday, Medical Superintendent Bone and Joint hospital Srinagar Dr Mian Suhail confirmed that they have resumed emergency surgeries in the hospital.

According to him, the work for resuming other services including admitting new patients will begin as soon as the restoration work is completed. This includes the power supply which got affected as water seeped into junction boxes.
