The twenty fourth edition of Bookaroo – a two day festival of children’s literature sponsored and hosted by DP Dhar Memorial Trust was held at DPS Srinagar on October 7 and 8.

As per a school statement, the festival was to bring children (in the age group 6-13 years) and books together in a fun way. “The DP Dhar Memorial Trust Bookaroo in Srinagar brought together 22 speakers who treated the children to a variety of programmes from daastangoi, performance storytelling to animation, art and crafts. Over 1500 students spent over 40 hours enjoying books,  music, laughter, fun and more importantly interact with authors, illustrators and storytellers face to face.”

Bookaroo has recently won the International Excellence Award at the London Book Fair. “It has collaborated with the Manchester Children’s Festival for the next year and spread the charm of fun filled learning. The children were thoroughly entertained while getting trained enthusiastically in various dimensions of knowledge like writing, animation, art, history, problem solving, ethical obligations and waste material recycling. The success of the event has convinced us that such events are necessary for exposing students to a cosmopolitan level.”
