Kupwara police seized 10 bottles of illicit liquor from a bootlegger at Drugmulla, Kupwara, a police statement said on Monday.
“During routine checking, Kupwara Police arrested a bootlegger Abdul Jabbar Sofi resident of Aram Mohalla Drugmullah, near B.Ed College Drugmulla and recovered ten bottles of illicit liquor from him,” police said.
Kupwara Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been started.
Meanwhile, a lady died of electric shock in Tangmarg area of Baramulla District last evening.
36 years old Gulzara Begum wife of Mohammad Shafi Qureshi resident of Mahayan Tangmarg received electric shock when she came in contact to a live wire near the electric Generator of a Mobile Tower installed in their compound.
She was shifted to Sub district Hospital, Tangmarg where she breather her last. Tangmarg Police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in this regard.
After conducting all legal formalities Tangmarg police handed over the body of the deceased lady to her relatives for last rites.
