Police and army have recovered only one body from the encounter site at Sopore while another militant has reportedly escaped from in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Sources said that as the joint team of forces was clearing the debris, one of the trapped militant, Javid Ahmad Matoo of Khushal Matoo, Sopore surfaced beneath it and started firing again.
The militant reportedly managed to escape from the cordoned area, sources said, adding that searches have been extended to adjacent areas. However, till last reports no arrests were made.
Earlier in the morning, the joint team of forces had announced the end of 18-hour long encounter. (GNS)
