SRINAGAR: A search operation was launched in the Thune area of Kangan in Ganderbal district after a boy and a girl were reportedly seen jumping into a power canal, according to reports.
The boy has been identified as Irshad Ahmad, while the identity of the girl has not been disclosed.
Following information about the incident, teams from Kangan Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and a local rescue team began a coordinated search in and around the canal to locate the two individuals.
Rescue personnel were continuing efforts to trace them, while police were also investigating the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.
