Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Tuesday appealed to the voters of Anantnag not to reward the “death, destruction and deceit” of last four years by staying home and boycotting the polls.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Omar wrote: “To the voters of Anantnag, please don’t reward the death, destruction & deceit of the last 4 years by staying home & boycotting the election. Come out & vote to give your anger a voice. Vote for the best candidate in the field, vote for @masoodi_hasnain.”

An official said that 4.2 percent votes have been polled till 10 am on Tuesday in Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.

In main town Anantnag, 989 votes were cast  (1.1%), the Dooru town registered 4699 votes (6.0%), 5738 (6.1%) votes were cast in Kokernag, Shangus registered 4228 (4.8%) votes, 613 (0.7%) votes were cast in Shangus and Pahalgam was at 6031 (7.0%). The overall percentage in the district till 10:00 am was 4.2 per cent.
