The policemen posted in police stations or deployed for checking and frisking duties should behave politely with the complainants and people in general by bringing in some attitudinal changes, Special DGP Coordination, Law & order, Dr S P Vaid told the top officers in a meeting on Sunday.

Vaid impressed upon the district SSPs to brief and hone the soft skills of the policemen and officers dealing with the public.

The SDGP complimented the policemen and the officers for handling the situation and added that a lot remains to be done till complete normalcy is restored. He impressed upon the officers to discourage the use of force while dealing with the law & order situations and emphasised on maximum restraint till the possible extent.

Referring to the weapon snatching incidents of the recent past Dr Vaid, directed the District SSPs to continue with intensive checking of the guards so as to eradicate such incidents completely.

With regard to fight against militancy SDGP, impressed upon the officers to work in tandem with all the security forces and agencies. He also called for creating specific goals  in all the districts and areas and work relentlessly to towards these goals.

Vaid’s speech came after a detailed briefing by IGP Kashmir S J M Gillani about the overall security scenario and law and order situation. He enumerated the measures taken by the Kashmir police to minimize the number of incidents with regard to law and order. He also highlighted the strategy adopted to continue fight against the militancy more vigorously.

The meeting presided over by Vaid was attended by District Police Chiefs from Kashmir, IGP Kashmir, DIGs from Central, North and South Kashmir.
