BSP has said that it would raise the issue of trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir during the forthcoming session of Parliament beginning August 5.

“We demand Jammu should be granted status of a state. The issue of trifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir – separate statehood for Jammu, Kashmir regions and Union Territory for Ladakh, will be taken up in the forthcoming Parliament session starting August 5,” MP and National General Secretary, BSP, Narender Kashyap told reporters in Jammu.

BSP is one of the parties which have supported the UPA’s decision for a separate Telangana state and its party supremo Mayawati has favoured division of Uttar Pradesh into four smaller states.

BSP has been trying to make inroads into the J&K political sphere but has not made any success as yet.
