A local court in Budgam Saturday rejected senior Hurriyat leader Masarat Alam’s bail plea in the “Pakistani flag waiving” case in which he has been charged with sedition and “waging war against the India”.

Alam has been booked under Public Safety Act for 27th time after he was released in March, post formation of PDP-BJP government in state. He was under PSA detention for continuous 54 months, post 2010 Kashmir uprising.

He was booked under the Public Safety Act and later shifted to ‘hostile’ Kotbalwal jail on April 23.

Alam was arrested by the J&K Police on April 17 from his Habba Kadal residence following the registration of an FIR against him, Geelani and others on April 15.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Budgam, before whom Masarat moved his bail plea, had reserved the matter for final orders on April 22 after concluding arguments in the case.
