SRINAGAR: The Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railway has restored direct train service between Budgam and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra from Saturday, providing renewed rail connectivity between Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region.
Train Nos. 04688/04687 have been restored on the Budgam-Katra route with effect from August 29, 2026, according to the Public Relations Inspector (PRI) of Jammu Railway Division.
Train No. 04688 from Budgam to Katra will depart Budgam Railway Station at 7.20 am and reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station at 1 pm.
The return service, Train No. 04687, will leave Katra at 1.45 pm and arrive at Budgam at 8 pm.
The railway division said the restoration was aimed at facilitating passengers, including devotees travelling to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The service will also benefit residents of Kashmir, students and employees travelling between the Valley and the Jammu region, the PRI said.
Passengers have been advised to verify the train’s operational status and timings before travelling through the NTES mobile application, Indian Railways website or helpline 139.
