SRINAGAR: Security forces launched a search operation in forward areas along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and kashmir on Saturday after a drone suspected to have come from neighbouring Pakistan was spotted hovering near the border, officials said.
The drone was observed over Behrooti village in the Balakote area of Mendhar sector late Friday evening. It later moved towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote side near the border before returning to the Pakistani side, officials said.
Army troops deployed along the LoC subsequently intensified surveillance, while a search operation was launched at first light to ascertain whether the drone had dropped or carried any suspicious material.
