SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tuti, held a high-level review meeting to finalise arrangements for the upcoming Shri Budha Amarnathji Yatra 2025. The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to begin from July 28 with the first batch departing from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, towards Tehsil Mandi in Poonch.
The meeting, held in Jammu, was attended by senior officials from the civil and police administration, including DIG CRPF, DIG JSK Range, DIG Rajouri-Poonch, Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi, along with heads of departments such as PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Health, BRO, Tourism and Traffic Police. Civil society representatives were also present.
The Divisional Commissioner directed that help desks and registration counters be set up at Bhagwati Nagar and Jammu Railway Station to facilitate pilgrims. He instructed Deputy Commissioners of Poonch and Rajouri to ensure provision of accommodation, electricity, drinking water, langars, parking, waterproof tents and mobile toilets en route to the shrine.
The IGP Jammu underlined the importance of strict adherence to convoy movement protocols and urged the public to travel only in authorised groups. BRO was directed to ensure the Jammu–Poonch highway remains motorable and to promptly remove any debris. PWD was tasked with repairing the Poonch–Mandi road.
JPDCL was instructed to ensure continuous electricity supply along the route, supported by backup generators. The Jal Shakti Department was asked to arrange drinking water at halt points, night halts and at the shrine site. The SSP Traffic Rural will manage convoy parking.
The Tourism Department was told to promote the pilgrimage through hoardings and newspaper advertisements from Lakhanpur to Poonch. Arrangements for pilgrims visiting Shri Shiv Khori during the Yatra period were also reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi.
The meeting concluded with civil society members offering inputs for the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the Yatra.
