1,452 Challans Issued, 44 Vehicles Seized in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: The Anantnag district transport authorities have intensified road safety enforcement, issuing over 1,400 challans and seizing 44 vehicles during multiple naka drives conducted till mid-July this year.

According to official data shared by the ARTO office, a total of 51 naka checkpoints were established by enforcement teams across various parts of the district, resulting in the issuance of 1,452 challans.

The data also noted that 44 vehicles were seized during drives carried out between January 25 and July 15, 2025. Additionally, eight driving licences were either cancelled or blocked during this period.

These enforcement actions were part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting road discipline and ensuring compliance with transport regulations.

The office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag confirmed that no transport permits were cancelled during the period under review.

The cumulative amount of fines collected through these drives stood at Rs 16,72,890.

Officials said the enforcement efforts will continue to target violations such as overloading, lack of fitness, non-functional emergency exits, and dangerous driving—especially on hilly routes that pose added risks.

The ARTO Anantnag reiterated the department’s commitment to passenger safety and strict implementation of transport rules across the district. (JKNS)
