The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar directed the officers on Monday to carry out the necessary acquisition at Bul-Bul Lankar in old city, so that the area can be developed on heritage pattern.

The Minister was addressing officers during a meeting convened to discuss the status of various developmental activities undertaken by the Government for ensuring the development of Srinagar city.

 “Government has already envisaged a comprehensive plan for developing the Bul-Bul Lankar-Aali Kadal area on heritage pattern as this area holds pivotal role in the history of the State,” Sagar said.

He directed the officers to prepare a project report for undertaking the construction of the community hall in the area as soon as possible as the same was announced by the Chief Minister while dedicating the newly renovated shrine of Bul-Bul Sahib to the people.

“We have already formulated a comprehensive plan for undertaking the development of old city Srinagar on heritage pattern which would include development of river fronts, craft bazars, restoration of various old monuments so that the old city comes up on the tourist map which would go a long way in elevating the socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas besides providing the much needed employment opportunities to the youth of the area,” he informed officers.

The Minister also directed the PDD officers to carry out the necessary realignment of the electric poles en-route the Syed Mirakh Shah Road project, so that the work and the landscaping can be carried out by the concerned departments.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of R&B, PHE, PDD LAWDA, SMC and other departments.
